Program Descriptions

Specific equipment required is detailed in each division for both baseball and softball, as described below in each division description.  Players in any division may choose to provide their own helmet and USA approved bat, however that is optional as Westbrook Little League provides team equipment including helmets, catcher's gear and USA approved bats.  If you need help providing gloves and cleats (depending on division) for your child, please contact Westbrook Little League.  


BASEBALL PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS


T-Ball  (League Age 4-6) This division is designed for the kids to have fun while learning the basic fundamentals of hitting and fielding. Schedules may vary with practices once a weeks and 1 game on the weekend. Players should have their own glove, cleats are optional.

(AA) Minor Baseball (League Age 7-8)  Player/Coach Pitch.  This modified player pitch division is designed for kids to have fun while continuing to learn the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, fielding, and base running. The goal is to continue developing the proper fundamentals and confidence to hit. Schedules may vary with practices once or twice a week and at least one game a week, normally on the weekend. Players should have their own glove, cleats are optional. 

(AAA) Minor Baseball (League Age 9-11)  Player Pitch.  This division is designed for kids to continue to learn the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, fielding, and base running. The rules of play will be similar to the Majors Division.  Schedules may vary:  practices/games are 2-3 times a week and a game on the weekend. Players should have their own glove and cleats.   

Major League baseball (League Age 10-12) Teams are drafted through an evaluation process. This is competitive baseball. Players must be drafted to a team and must attend at least 1 player evaluation session. If a player is not drafted they will be placed into (AAA) Minors Baseball program.  Schedules may vary:  practices/games are 2-3 times a week and a game on the weekend. Players should have their own glove and cleats.



SOFTBALL PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS


Minors Softball (League Ages 6-9)  Player/Coach Pitch.  This modified player pitch division is designed for kids to learn the fundamentals of softball, including hitting, fielding, and base running. The rules of play will be similar to the Majors Division, including the kids pitching. Schedules may vary:  practices/games are 2-3 times a week and a game on the weekend. Players should have their own glove and cleats.

Mini Majors Softball (League Ages  8-11)  Player Pitch.  This division is designed for kids to continue their learning of the game of softball. It is more competitive and closer in structure be to the Majors division. Players are eligible to be selected and participate in the All star tournament. Players should have their own glove and cleats.   

Major Softball (League Ages 9-12)  Players are drafted through an evaluation process. Players that are not drafted are assigned to a Mini Majors team. This is  the most competitive softball program. Schedules may vary:  practices/games are 2-3 times a week and a game on the weekend. Players are eligible to be selected and participate in the All star tournament.  Players should have their own glove and cleats.
